How Can Household Insurance Protect You From Vandals
Household insurance and homeowners insurance are terms that are frequently used interchangeably. People that purchases houses often buy household insurance at the same time so that they are protected from flood and fire damage the minute that they sign their contracts. What many people do not realize is that empty homes can sometimes prove to be very attractive to looters and squatters. If you have purchased a house that you do no plan to move into for months, you may have to deal with the aftermath of vagrants who have lived in your home before you got a chance to. You may not think that this is something that you have to worry about because you are moving into a nice neighborhood, but how would your neighbors know? The house has already been empty for some time, and experienced squatters will be careful not to attract attention.
Although squatters may not damage the structure of your home vandals can. Rowdy teenagers or just plain disturbed adults may find that your quaint new home is a great place to take out their frustrations on. Not only will you need to worry about cosmetic damage such as spray painted walls and broken windows, if the vandals are able to get inside you may need to make repairs to your walls, ceilings and floors. If you did you homework and purchased a household insurance policy early on you won’t need to fret about any damages done to your home by vandals, squatters or opportunistic thieves.
